Monarto Zoo is a biopark in the true sense of the word. It represents a unique blend of a conservation park, national park and zoological park. The principle purpose is to provide a place for the conservation of wildlife both Australian and exotic, and public recreation and education. Five major habitat exhibits have been developed, including the Asian Steppes, arid North Africa, African plains and Asian grasslands, as the first stage of development at Monarto. The second stage includes habitats for the Cheetah, African Dog, African Lion and Black Rhino.
Features include the Tasmanian Devil exhibit, White Rhino viewing area, and specialised Viewing Platforms for the Water Hole, Cheetah, Lions and Chimpanzees. Their Zookeepers provide fascinating keeper talks throughout the day, giving visitors many opportunities to interact with a knowledgeable person and learn more about the animals.
Contained within the an award winning environmentally friendly, air-conditioned visitor centre is an exhibition space and touch tables for children.
Once inside the entrance you share the short journey to the Visitor Centre with roaming wildlife, so please remember the speed limit is 30km per hour. You may not drive your own car around the Zoo, parking is available at the Visitor Centre. Please take care on the roads driving to Monarto Zoo.

Zu-loop shuttles to wildlife viewing platforms run at regular intervals throughout the day. Keeper Presentations commence from 11.05 am.

The Zoo has a network of approx 10 kms of walking tracks. For those visitors keen to explore the Zoo by foot, there are a range of walking tracks available ranging from easy to medium grading and are suitable for robust pushers. There are 5 walking tracks available ranging from 20 to 90 minutes.
