About this activity

The award-winning Melbourne Museum houses a permanent collection in eight galleries, including one just for children, plus a range of temporary and seasonal exhibitions.

Permanent exhibitions include a Dinosaur Walk, Forest Secrets and Labrinth Of The Mind, plus the blue whale skeleton and the living indoor rainforest are big draws for kids.

Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre is a space for indigenous and non-indigenous people to learn about Victoria’s Koorie people. Also home to an Imax Theatre.

The Melbourne Museum, situated in Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, Australia, is a natural and cultural history museum. As part of Museums Victoria, the Government of Victoria established the museum in 2000.

The cafe is family friendly, can provide high chairs and offers a special lunch box for kids. Adults are catered for with a selection of fresh hot and cold food, teas, coffees and soft drinks.

Touch trolleys are available in the exhibition galleries on most days, please ask at the ticket desk for more information.

Accessible toilets are available on all levels of the museum. All exhibition galleries and public spaces have lift and or ramp access. Selected computer stations in the Discovery Centre are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair seating is available in the IMAX Theatre on a first-come basis, or spaces can be reserved by calling the bookings line.
