About this activity

Throughout 14 acres of land, paths meander among one of the most comprehensive collections of privately owned animals and birds in the country. See all your favourite Australian animals such as Wombats, Dingos, Echidnas and Fruit Bats. Cuddle a Koala and walk amongst the Kangaroos and Wallabies!

A variety of exotic animals on display such as American Alligators, Meerkats, Otters, playful Monkeys and more. There are also many rare albino species to be seen and they house a vast range of birds from Fairy Wrens to Ostriches and everything in between, some in enclosures but many free flying including a free range colony of rainbow lorikeets.

The cuddly koalas come out for holding and photos every day at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. On the last Sunday of each month a group of keepers roam the park between 12.30pm and 3.30pm with a variety of animals, birds and reptiles, giving visitors a chance to get up close and personal with a few extra of their residents. If the last Sunday of the month falls on a weekend with a public holiday Monday, Unleashed sessions will be held on the Monday.

Gorge Wildlife Park FAQ’s

The kiosk sells a comprehensive range of fresh take-away food (pies, pasties, hot-dogs, sandwiches etc.) as well as hot and cold drinks, ice-creams and confectionery.

At the kiosk you can purchase bags of pellets and grain to feed many of the parks residents. This will give you the pleasure of getting up close and personal with their very friendly animals.

Their souvenirs range is extensive and includes cheap novelty items, cards, t-shirts and soft toys along with some upmarket items. There is something to suit everyone from local to international visitors.

Their experienced wildlife handlers will present a 30 minute structured keeper session to your class which will include a hands on experience with a variety of different animals, birds or reptiles. These sessions take place in their new education room which also includes various displays and a touch table with interesting objects.

The BBQ facility with gas barbeques (no additional charge) is undercover and can seat in excess of 60 people. There is also gazebo type seating and lawn areas for picnics. Feel free to bring your own food and refreshments.
