Deckchair Cinema is easily accessible via a well lit picturesque walkway from the city esplanade and there is plenty of parking and bike racks available on site.

Where are we going today?

Spend an evening being entertained under the stars at Deckchair Cinema, an award winning outdoor cinema and tourist attraction for the whole family to enjoy, provided of course you pick the right movie!

Located in the Darwin Waterfront, this majestic open air cinema is open 7 nights a week from mid April to mid November. Gates open nightly, and considerately, at 6.30pm so patrons can enjoy a Darwin sunset over the harbour before the 7.30pm screening. This does mean that younger ones won't make it, but on the other hand it ensures a fairly quiet screening.

The program is a diverse range of Australian, popular, family, foreign and classic films, so there's plenty of scope for finding something which suits your family, though with scenery like this it's hard to keep eyes on the screen!

Great spot for a movie interspersed with a bit of star-gazing.

Get in early for dinner while the sunsets. You can buy dinner there, different Darwin restaurants host the food stall on different nights- In my experience, it's always a good feed and reasonably priced. Beer and wine and refreshments are also available.

p.s it's worth bringing mozzie repellant- just in case

AND grab a pillow or 2 once your in the door to make the deck chair a little more comfy

They have special events, film festivals etc.Popular movies can be a sellout house - so it's a great pity you CAN'T BUY ADVANCE TICKETS ONLINE...(hint! hint!) - means you have to queue for 30 minutes on a busy night and you may not get in.
