I’ve taken my son here twice. After our first visit my son already wanted to have his birthday party here. The staff are very friendly and we know a lot of them on a first name basis already. I disagree with other people’s comments on safety. I’ve been around enough climbing gyms and there is nothing different about Cliffhanger that would make me worry. Thank you Jess, Lockie, Mitch, Sarah and Steve. We shall see you again soon.

Great local gym. The staff is friendly and helpful. The routes are very enjoyable and there is a good mix of difficulty and diversity. Has some of the highest and longest routes in the area. They’ve been doing a good job of creating new problems as well. The bouldering cave is midsized and has some great routes.TL;DR great local gym

This place is badly run. Not safe and is very, very worn out. The rout setting is a joke and I wouldn’t risk my life there again. Should be closed down!

Recommended for climbers! This place has a beautifully textured and featured bouldering cave that uses the V grading system. The place also has a wide variety of climbs, over hang climbs, lead climbs, and even a kids section containing easy climbs. This gym is also the only gym I’ve come across in the eastern states that uses the GriGri self-lock belaying system – this is by far a safer system for parents to use than the ATC styled belay plates — because let’s face it, parents dont always pay attention — they like to talk with other parents. If you want to do a lead climbing assessment, you’ll have to book in advance because they currently only have a few instructors capable of lead assessments. It costs roughly $26~30 for a one-way taxi to/from the city.

This place is badly managed and lacks knowledgeable staff; instead run by juniors bred on plastic hugging. The place is nolonger managed to a level of safety that is acceptable. Bring back the old staff members. They may have been unfriendly, but they were certainly skilled climbers and competent staff members who knew how to run a climbing gym.
