About this activity

The AIS (Australian Institute of Sports) trains national and international level athletes in Olympic standard conditions, and now YOU can be part of it! The AIS welcomes families to not only learn about the sporting triumphs in national history, but as part of an AIS tour you can actively engage in many of the activities!

During the tour you will visit Sportex, where kids can challenge themselves. It's here you can experience a leading interactive sports exhibit set along side a unique collection of Australian sporting memorabilia

Kids can learn all about the history of the sport AND be inspired to get active and play it! Sports include the wheelchair basketball, virtual downhill skiing, rock climbing and football penalty shootouts, as well as user friendly equipment like ball skills testers and reaction timers.

It makes it a much more entertaining trip for kids and is generally suited to those of primary school age and up though younger ones will still get something out of it.

Also part of the Australian Institute of Sports is Sports Science that opens up a more intellectual level that will help engage the not so sporty kids too.

It's worth noting that every tour is guided by an established athlete, who is always happy to answer kids' questions as they go around.

So what are you waiting for? Ready to get inspired by some Australian legends? We are, so let's go!
