About this activity

Take the time to discover the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Garden, there's so much to see and do!

Not far from the city centre of Adelaide, you will find these amazing gardens to let you really enjoy and explore nature. There's a green thumb in all of us, waiting to pop out!

Kids can learn all about the First Creek Wetland, which is actually an amazing environmental feat, because in 5 to 8 years they actually recover enough water to irrigate the entire Adelaide Botanic Gardens - pretty impressive!

The Garden of Health is great to explore for learning the power of plants can have on the human body. There are over 2,500 plants that can teach kids all about natural healing! Who knew there were that many!

From Rose gardens, to Australian Native Gardens, there are many different areas that will be fun to explore and teach kids a number of elements when it comes to the environment.

The Adelaide Botanic Garden is also home to three architecturally significant glass houses - the Palm House, the Bicentennial Conservatory and the Amazon Waterlily Pavilion. Each glass house was built for a specific purpose and represents a leading design for its time!

Did you know that the Santos Museum of Economic Botany was first opened to the public in 1881? That means there have certainly been a large number of families who were already entertained - it must be doing something right!

Kids will also love strolling down the oldest avenue of Moreton Bay fig trees in Australia.

Take your time, and enjoy nature. You will forget that you have phones and televisions by the time you finish at the Adelaide Botanic Garden!
